Nexus Tablet

In recent times manufacturers such as ASUS and Samsung have really mastered what it takes to bring appealing, high spec tablets to market. The design of recent models such as the Transformer Pad TF300 or Galaxy 10.1 have allowed the Android ecosystem to compete with the iPad and with the likes of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Transformer Infinity taking the lead at the high end of the market there are some highly desirable models around.Low cost Android tablets have also been around for some time and while initial models were very much built to low specifications with resistive screens, less than ideal viewing angles and minimal CPU speeds it wasn't long before the likes of Archos began challenging no-name brands. One of the ways Archos were able to do this was the release of units which offered lower screen sizes such as their 8" Gen 9 tablets but it was clear that minimising costs was still an issue.There are few brands around who have more power than Google and what if they could combine with a leading manufacturer on a tablet? Could the quality, low cost barrier be broken? Well that question looks to be answered by the Nexus 7 (manufacturerd by ASUS) which packs a some impressive specifications into a £159-199/$199-$259 price point... today we have the 16GB model on our test bench to see if it offers a desirable, and workable, alternative to the more expensive larger tablets which are currently available.
