Evernote works beautifully, but its design leaves something to be desired—like a personality. The minimalistic color scheme is almost entirely black and white, with the most restrained use of light blue accent text. Version 4 has added a little bit more design, but it's still very minimalistic, almost architectural in feel. The lack of icons, textures, graphics, and variations in fonts keeps the app extremely austere. Microsoft OneNote Mobile (free, 3 stars), which is very similar in functionality, has a bit more design and color. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Awesome Note (+Todo) exudes a cheerful and almost bubbly interface, full of color, shadows, themes, and fonts. 

If you need color coordination to stay organized or like a visual pick-me-up when working on chores, Evernote likely won't be enough for you on its own. However, Awesome Note can actually connect with Evernote, so you don't have to choose between the two.
